Festivals!

In the last two months we have celebrated two very important Nepali festivals.  First there was Teej, a festival especially for the girls and women to celebrate.

Then we celebrated Dashain, the biggest festival of the year, which lasts for 10 days and involves a lot of Puja’s and visits to the temples. During Dashian we also give a lot of offerings to the gods, we wear red tikka powder on our foreheads, and we eat lots of special food.

New Friends

Over the last two months several volunteers have come to Aishworya to help out with the children. Some have stayed for 6 weeks, some only for a week, but we have enjoyed spending time with all of them. The kids love to meet new people, especially from such a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds, and we would like to introduce them to you!

General Information

This month we have a slight change to our usual newsletters. As many of you may know, Stephanie, an ex-volunteer at Aishworya, has been working each month with Pramila, our assistant Director, to write and produce our monthly newsletters. However, due to several other commitments, Stephanie is currently unable to devote the time required to work on these newsletters each month. So, starting this month, we plan to condense our newsletters into bi-monthly publications, which will hopefully ease some of the workload, whilst still allowing us to keep you all fully informed of all our activities here at Aishworya!
