General Information

This month we have a slight change to our usual newsletters. As many of you may know, Stephanie, an ex-volunteer at Aishworya, has been working each month with Pramila, our assistant Director, to write and produce our monthly newsletters. However, due to several other commitments, Stephanie is currently unable to devote the time required to work on these newsletters each month. So, starting this month, we plan to condense our newsletters into bi-monthly publications, which will hopefully ease some of the workload, whilst still allowing us to keep you all fully informed of all our activities here at Aishworya!

Nepal

This month Nepal celebrated the end of the Dashain festival, and we are glad to announce that the floods in the south and west of Nepal are receding at last. We wish all of the people affected a swift and safe return home.

Floods ravage Western Nepal

From the 19th – 21st September there was intensely heavy rainfall across Nepal, causing huge flash floods and landslides across the western part of Nepal. More than 180,000 people were displaced from their homes, and many entire villages were destroyed.
In particular, the district of Kailali was the worst affected, with over 135,000 of the displaced people coming from this area.
