At present we are not able to meet all of our current objectives, as our incomings do not match our outgoing expenses.
We now have a number of long-term donors and sponsors who provide a portion of our income and help with our day-to-day needs. We also have a number of volunteers who pay a small contribution towards food and board while they stay with us.
Our previous volunteers, with the help of the sponsors, have so far raised enough money to pay for all of the children’s school fees for three years (from April 2008 to April 2011), but we are still looking for more permanent funding to support the children’s education long-term, as well as donations to cover our day-to-day running costs such as food, rent, clothes and bills.
A full list of people who have contributed or are currently supporting us is available on the Donors and Sponsors page. The contributions from donors have provided the following items for the orphanage:
2 bookshelves, a Euroguard water filter, clothes, an electric kettle, Christmas presents for all the children, HIV and hepatitis tests for all the children, vitamins, stationary, toys and games.
8 bunk beds, 2 water storage tanks, 4 tables, several new clothes, Christmas presents for all the children, new school shoes, bags and uniforms, books, stationary, and toys and games.
What will my money do?
Below is a cost breakdown of what different levels of sponsorship will provide for the children at Aishworya.
What will your money buy?
£5 a month will cover the costs for one child to go to school, including all fees, uniforms, stationery, exams and excursions.
£12 a month will buy one sack of rice and two packets of lentils, which will feed three children for a month.
£25 a month will fully support one child at Aishworya, including rent, food, school and medical costs.
£50 a month will buy fresh fruit for all 32 children each month.
£75 a month will buy all the vegetables needed for 32 children and the staff.
£100 a month will pay for the education of all 32children.
